Fresh Salt

Posted on: March 10, 2010

Reading today: Matthew 5:13-16

Salt and Light

13“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men.

14“You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. 15Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.

Paragraph gold today: Matthew 5:13

13“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men.

When the salt collected from the Dead Sea region, there is salt for salt and herbs, some salt to freshwater. Plain salt is not removed, but kept in the Temple in Jerusalem. In the winter when the rain falls, the temple courtyard tiles become slippery, and the fresh salt was sprinkled to reduce slippage. Thus, the fresh salt was trampled people.

Salt have characteristics that describe how it should impact on the lives of the faithful around the world. The salt is usually used as flavor. The believer should uphold the moral consciousness of a nation, so that in every aspect of life, whether social, political, economic, cultural and educational, can feel the influence of the ways of God. If used for grape salt, salt makes the fruit is sweet. People believe should be also “sweeten” the bitterness the hearts of those who feel oppressed and marginalized.

Salt can be used to kill weeds that grow in cracks in the path. Moral violations that occurred in this nation should be obliterated by the influence of the church of God. Salt to soften the ice.We should be able to “melt” the ice hardened the hearts of the self and against the truth of God.And salt can preserve food or make it not immediately decay. Christians should also have the effect of protecting the nation from moral decline.
